![]() The Git2 is GitUp's followup to their successful Git1 action camera. If you're like me and would rather read a written review with more detail than a short video can contain, then you're in the right place. Remember that YouTube compresses video and makes it look terrible, especially during fast-motion scenes like action cameras often produce - download the raw files to judge the true quality yourself. I put it through its paces and I liked what I saw. Not the case in 90 degree cameras that may be used for landscapes, on quadcopters and what matters is usually what is visible on the horizon.Back in December 2015, GitUp provided me with a review unit for their new Git2 action camera. Wide 170/ 150 cameras usually show a lot in the foreground and background looks small and distant. I was wondering if the focus issues are random or affect a whole batch from a certain seller.Īnyway if GitUp is reading I find important that the infinity / distant objects are in focus in a 90 degree lens camera. ![]() GitUp site sells it for 129 USD and shipping from Singapore takes a while. But I can buy locally on Amazon or eBay for 109 USD same day / free delivery or Aliexpress / Banggod for 90 USD. GitUp replied to a message that I could buy directly from them and I'd get one without the uneven focus issue. I am still looking for a good 90 degree camera without the uneven focus issues of some Git2P. Yi maybe has less contrast at low contrast.Īnyway stabilization of Git2 is way better than Yi 4k, which has jello effect on the edges. ![]() I use an iMac and Macbook, i think the monitors are fine. It will fit in the G3 waterproof case once available. If you are not seeing much detail in the shadows or black clothing then take a look at your graphics card video settings, the default is often to only show the restricted TV range for video, setting it to full range can magically reveal the missing detail from shadows and highlights in the clouds in the Gitup video and give 14% more detail than the Yi 4K can! The Yi however uses the restricted 8 bit TV range (16-235) while the Git2 and G3 use the full 8 bit range (0-255) - the Yi is wasting 14% of the range reducing the detail. This is something I encountered last week, the Yi 4K can appear to have more dynamic range. Norfolk Broads cycle ride 25 miles (1 hr 59 min 56 sec) The integrated GPS in the Git3 may make that more convenient for me, if the video quality and stabilisation are as good, and the field of view is as wide as my standard Git2. I use "Dashware" software in post production to overlay GPS data from my Garmin Forerunner watch. I also find the ultra-wide fisheye view of the standard Git2 to be perfect too, where the wide open frontal view is well worth the slight disadvantage of distorted edges in that sort of application. I had switched off loop recording because I mistakenly thought that would cause dropped frames, while it may need to hunt for the oldest clip and delete it to re-use the space.Īlthough I bought my Git2 for RC drone use, I find I'm using it far more for my bike rides, where the stabilisation makes a huge difference, far better than my old Sony AS30V. If it can prevent the loss of even one frame that'll be great. Sorry for my belated response to your post Nigel. The processors were designed for dashcams and that is how they work. If you turn loop recording on then you will get perfect continuous recordings with zero gaps between segments, not even 1 missing frame.
